RE: MyWebForums.net - Review
Hey there.

Here is the requested review:

First of all: DOCTYPE is XHTML 1.0 Transitional.

Forum downloads 198KB to my hdd.

Validator tells me: 35 Errors, 11 warning(s)

Check the errors here:

http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3...ne&group=0

WARNING: 404 error

http://www.mywebforums.net/images/Majestic/tcat.gif
404 Not Found

Not good Sad

Since this is a MyBB forum it has the usual javascript-loading at top.

I would at least combine those js files and minify them and upload them on a cookieless domain.
The same with all graphics, everything static should be on a cookieless domain.

Ok, I must admit that on THIS forum I did not yet combine the JS files or uploaded them to my cookieless domain.

Back to the review:

IMO the "logo" is not really reflecting what it's all about on your forum. Those people standing there looks more like "rappers" or "party people" or from a music vid ... hehe Big Grin

For me the PROXYNOID banner twice on the page is annoying. And you could put all those mini buttons in one line instead of centered.

On line 80 is a </form> tag that could be deleted. On line 152 is a </td> at the end that could be deleted, too.

Google Page Speed Score is 70.

Some suggestions from Google to boost loading speed:

Code:
Combine external JavaScript
Optimize images
Parallelize downloads across hostnames
Serve static content from a cookieless domain
Specify image dimensions
Combine external CSS
Minify CSS
Avoid bad requests

There is some optimization to do my friend.

Good luck.

RE: MyWebForums.net - Review
the theme has some issues with its actual coding, you add something and it will shift to another place no matter what code you put, we are already one of the fastest forums due to an optimised dedicated server running on litespeed, but i will consider adding static content for even faster speed! to eb honest i have no idea what tcat.gif is, and the forum appears fine without this image Tongue , so nothing to change there in my opinion, with buttons etc we get the problem with resolutions, and if we try and shift any it may break what we worked so hard on to get there in the first place (as they move if you dont in a non desired place if you dont shift in a specific way) thank you for the review, and i will try and implement some of the more "important" features in the near future Smile

EDIT: Also, it may have so many erros etc, because we have rewriting of urls , for SEO (better than the normal mybb standard urls, or mybbs default SEO url system)

Thanks again

RE: MyWebForums.net - Review
404 errors are pretty bad for SEO.

If you want to have good SEO results with google you need to do something with your forum.
Litespeed here litespeed there, as you say... problems are there.

And a 404, if you use Litespeed or not, is still a 404!

First place? Of what?

RE: MyWebForums.net - Review
no i said litespeed is much faster than apache,so everything loads alot quicker anyway XD, and the urls are rewritten, if you dont rewrite correctly a 404 occurs, what do you mean by first place?

Using a cookieless domain would not break anything but it makes loading faster

RE: MyWebForums.net - Review
we do work on basic SEO, and our alexa rank increases because of it, also everything on our site (well most things eg the link style) is SEO friendly and optimised which helps Smile
